Abstract
Gestational diabetes, affects the newborn and the mother, is related to low glucose levels in the blood plasma, which can be harmful to the mother and the fetus. Among the effects in the newborn appear: preterm delivery, macrosomia, neuronal alterations due to lack of glucose and oxygen, and in the early childhood period it could appear: learning defects such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and various other effects. Treatments include diet, exercise, and proper medication. Insulin as a treatment to maintain glucose levels could be effective.
