Abstract

Abstract: Scientific production
is an essential pillar for academic
excellence, requiring the ongoing
training of research professors. This
study aimed to determine faculty
perceptions of factors associated
with scientific production at the
Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of
the National University of Asunción.
A quantitative, descriptive, analytical,
and cross-sectional approach was
adopted, covering 274 faculty
members from the main office and
branches. The predominant age
group was 41 to 50 years (36%),
70% were female, and 49% worked
at the main office. Although 45% had
a specialization, only 22% had
received training in research
methodology, and only 17% had
published in the previous five years.
A statistically significant association
(p=.000) was observed between
methodological training, scientific
output, and participation in research
projects. It is concluded that faculty
perceptions of the role of faculty as
researchers and institutional culture
were favorable for scientific
production. Factors such as time,
workload, resources, motivation, and
training could be improved, while
institutional support is viewed as an
unfavorable factor. Although
structural limitations persist, the
study recognizes the institutional
efforts that FENOB-UNA has been
promoting to strengthen the research
culture. The results obtained offer
key input for guiding strategies that
consolidate more active, sustained,
and impactful scientific participation.
